Since my last post I have had my head down working on a commission for St Margaret’s Church, Laceby. This is a lovely little parish church near Grimsby with a very active congregation. I have made good progress in the last few weeks so am feeling more optimistic and will post a picture when it’s all complete.
Last week I went to Shropshire and gave a talk to the Marches Branch of the Embroiderers’ Guild and then a workshop the next day at Moor Hall Studio. Bobby Britnell makes everyone feel very welcome and it is always so refreshing to work with other creative people. Do have a look to see what is on offer at her studio www.bobbybritnell.co.uk
Burnbrae Studio
Another great place to spend some time at a workshop is Burnbrae Studio near Kelso in the Scottish Borders. I am going to tutor there in September again and always enjoy the feeling of ‘getting away from it all’ and having time to do some work with students! We are always well looked after with a delicious lunch supplied and coffee, tea and biscuits when you need a breather. During the workshop on September 17th & 18th we shall be exploring the idea of constructing a fabric. Information will be on their website www.burnbraehol.co.uk
This is a constructed fabric inspired by studies of Xhosa beadwork.

Hi Mary, It was an inspiring time at Bobbie’s studio, really great to meet you.
Yes I did enjoy working with you and tried to leave a comment on your blog but somehow it would not work!!
