Beach Road, Cley next the Sea, Norfolk – first investigations together on a windy day in January after the storms
My friend and fellow artist, Jan Miller and I have been selected to take part in CLEY14 – A Creative Conversation. The exhibition will be open to the public from 3rd July – 3rd August 2014 in Cley next the Sea.
The curators were particularly concerned to highlight artists’ ideas of ‘a sustained conversation with materials.’ Jan and I have been asked to install our work along Beach Road which leads down to the shingle beach. Jan and I instigated an ongoing creative conversation a couple of years ago. This exhibition gives us an opportunity to develop this relationship further investigating and sharing a new location together to make work for the exhibition.
As you may have read the North Norfolk coast suffered damage in the storms earlier in the winter and then tragedy struck when a helicopter crashed in the Cley area. However, we are all taking up the challenge and art works will be on display in St Margaret’s Church and surroundings, the coastal path, possibly the Windmill and bookshop in Cley.

Hi Mary
This sounds very interesting, I love this part of the country and look forward to seeing the work.
Best Wishes Jean Paling
It’s a challenge and very exciting so we’ll see!
Good to hear from you and hope all is going well with you and the group.
